For your consideration is a unique artifact from America's Space Race era, signed by an Apollo Moon Walker.. Duro Mold & Mfg in East Detroit in the early 1950's, this Strato Bank had been signed by Apollo 12 Lunar Modular Pilot Astronaut Alan Bean in Cape Canaveral during a show sponsored annually by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.

This scarce silver chrome specimen comes with original key and complimentary magazine featuring these intriguing and historically significant artifacts. Send a message and I'll reply with the link to the Antiquing & Collecting Magazine article. In absolutely near mint condition! I see just one tiny spot on the base near the Moon which looks like a factory blemish, like a tiny bubble popped and left a blank spot in the mirror-like chrome finish picture #3.

The single label is 100% and reads. Serious offers will be appreciated and considered. Please note that the last picture showing Mr. Alan Bean with the newly signed bank is for illustrative purposes only, and the other banks in that picture are not part of this listing. I brought them down to the Show specifically to show Mr. Bean, who was actually a painter himself... And a huge Peter Max fan.

These stickers say "United States" and Bicentennial. The spray painted banks are a dull silver, not the shiny silver chrome (mirror-like finish) of the original finish. I've seen painted over Flying Saucer Banks, Satellite Banks, Guided Missile Banks and Mercury Rocket Banks.

Now he has a Plan It bank which had been painted over, and the description is a falsehood! Plan It Banks came out in 1959, not 1975 as he claims. By 1975 both John and Steven Berzac had passed on, and Astro had long since closed its doors. Vacumet Finishing acquired the rights, and re-issued a few banks in the 1970's, including the Sportsman, the Wild West, the Guided Missile and the Plan It, though Vacumet's model had a clear blue plastic ring.
