1872 Erie Railway Railroad Pass. This is a vintage & hard to get. Erie Railway pass, signed by the notorious Jay Gould. This pass was given to Col. Condit-Smith who was a railroad builder & served under General Sherman in Sherman's army as "Chief Quartermaster".
See the write up in the last photo. You can also find information about Col. He is mentioned in a book called: Memoirs of General W.
He was also brother-in-law to Supreme Court Justice Stephen J. He was married to Field's wife's sister. The pass is in very good condition. The only minor issues are a small smudge mark next to the "Y" in the word railway and some light toning due to age. The item "1872 Jay Gould Signed Erie Railway Railroad Pass with RN-Q1 Stamp.
